Important Note

The advertised AX1500 class represents theoretical wireless link rates of up to 1201Mbps on 5GHz plus 300Mbps on 2.4GHz. It does not mean that a single device will receive a 1500Mbps internet connection.

The RE500X uses Wi-Fi 6 / 802.11ax on the 5GHz band. TP-Link's current V2 specification lists the 2.4GHz band as IEEE 802.11b/g/n with a maximum rate of 300Mbps.

Wi-Fi 6 features such as OFDMA, 1024-QAM and MU-MIMO require compatible client devices.

Smart Roaming requires a compatible mesh configuration and client devices supporting 802.11k/v.

TP-Link has released the RE500X in several hardware revisions, including V1, V2, V2.40 and V2.60. EasyMesh implementation, firmware features and some specifications can vary by version, so QUTECH should check the hardware version printed on the physical box when revision-specific details are important.
